Dear SMS Families,

As we get closer to the start of another exciting school year, I wanted to share a few summer updates and welcome you back to our school community. While summer has been a time of preparation and change, one thing remains constant—our commitment to providing the best possible experience for every student.

This year, we are excited to welcome Assistant Principal Jackie Zoppo to our administrative team! Many returning families will remember Ms. Zoppo from her previous role as Behavior Coach. She joins Assistant Principal Mrs. Parker and me in leading our school this year, and we are thrilled to have her in this new role.

We are also pleased to welcome Kelly Hawking, our new 6th Grade School Counselor. She joins our returning counselors, Dr. Larson (7th Grade) and Mrs. Muller (8th Grade), who are eager to support students and families throughout the year.

This newsletter is the first of our weekly family updates. Each week, I'll share important school news, upcoming events, celebrations, and staff spotlights to help keep you informed and connected. I encourage you to take a few minutes each week to read through it so you don't miss important information.

Thank you for your continued partnership and support. We look forward to welcoming our students back soon and making this a fantastic school year together!

Calendar Heads-Up🗓

7/27 - Bus transportation - this is the last day you can register to ensure your student has a bus the first week. (see important quick link below for details)

7/30 - Orientation: all incoming 6th grade students, AND new 7th and 8th grade students - see link below

7/30 - Schedule/ID Pick Up: All Students - see link below

8/3 - Teachers return to work

8/5 - Schedule/ID Pick Up/Walk your schedule Alternate date (3pm - 5pm)

8/5 -Campus will be open for students and parents to walk student schedules from 3pm - 5pm.

8/10 - First day of school for students📆

8/20 - Picture Day

8/24-8/28 - FAST Assessment Progress Monitoring 1

8/27 Open House 🏫 (More information to come)

Back to School Orientation & Schedule Pickup Information -July 30th

Make-up date: August 3rd (3pm - 5pm) for pickup of ID, schedules and to walk the campus. (no presentation on this day.)

Bus transportation Information (register for a bus, reporting a issue with transportation, bus district contacts, parent tracking app, & general FAQ's) All transportation is addressed at the district level.

School Supply Lists Schedules will not be FINALIZED until 7/30 and are subject to change.
