Sergeant Pulphus

This is Sgt. Pulphus is the JROTC teacher at Sarasota High School.

Before joining SHS, he served 20-plus years in the military as a Superintendent at a Juvenile Detention Center. He says, "Serving in the military and working with the Department of Juvenile Justice, I knew working with teenagers was my calling. I found working with Young People was a great reward and giving back to society. Young people are our future. The mission of JROTC is to "Make young people better citizens."

He continues, "My favorite subject is Drill and Ceremony, which prepare young people to work and depend on each other, working as TEAM (Together Everyone Achieves More). We teach English, math, science, and various other subjects. We do not try to recruit young people; we teach them they have options."
