On Thursday, 3/7, both the Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble went to Venice High School for Music Performance Assessment (MPA). Both bands received an overall EXCELLENT rating! 🤩
On stage, they performed 3 pieces of music that we have been preparing in class. After their stage performance, they headed to the sight-reading room to be assessed on Music Literacy. Each group had to play TWO songs they had never seen before. These students had 3 minutes to prepare the march and 5 minutes to prepare the overture in the sight-reading room (without playing their instruments and with the Sight-Reading judge watching.)
We could not be prouder of these students! Many Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble students joined Band 2/Band 3 this year after only a semester of General Music last school year (which piqued their musical interest and helped them discover their musical ability.) They have overcome so many obstacles this year and were incredibly locked in throughout Quarter 3 to pull off this EXCELLENT performance! 😊
