Promotion Ceremony letter

Here's some information about our promotion ceremony! Feel free to contact McIntosh if you have any questions. Your students should be coming home soon with this letter. We are so proud of our 8th grade students!

PROMOTION CEREMONY ANNOUNCEMENT AND EXPECTATIONS

Dear McIntosh Parents/Guardians:

We are proud to inform you that McIntosh Middle School will host an end of the year Promotion Ceremony for our 8th Grade students. We realize the importance of completing middle school in their educational journey and want to recognize this accomplishment and wish them well as we send them on to high school.

The Promotion Ceremony is on the last day of school, May 24th (5-24-2024) and begins promptly at 10:00 a.m. and ends by 11:00 a.m. IMPORTANT: There are only 3 admission tickets issued to each family due to the limited seating in the gym. Upon leaving the event, you MUST have a valid driver's license or picture ID for us to release your child(ren). Parents, guests, and participating students MUST remain for the Promotion Ceremony in its entirety. ONCE THE PROGRAM BEGINS, ALL MUST REMAIN IN THE GYM, providing there is no emergency. Students must meet required expectations in order to participate in the ceremony. The expectations are described below.

In order to participate in the ceremony, students must:

  • Not receive a discipline referral during fourth quarter resulting in In-School Suspension (ISS) or Out-of-School Suspension (OSS)

  • Not be failing any courses for the year

  • Have all library books, textbooks, badge fees, computers returned and/or fines paid before May 19, 2024

8th Grade Student Attire:

  • Girls: Dresses with sleeves that cover the shoulders and back and must be the length to the tip of the middle finger. Shoes with appropriate heels, sandals are okay. (No denim or blue jeans), NO FLIP FLOPS.

  • BOYS: White Shirts with Tie (if possible); dark colored trousers (No denim or blue jeans), closed shoes. NO FLIP FLOPS.

DISMISSAL:

If you plan to take your child(ren) with you following the ceremony, please be sure to complete the "Student Release" ticket, found at the exit tables and bring the appropriate identification (driver's license and/or valid photo I.D.)

We have a wonderful Promotional Ceremony planned, and I want to personally thank all of you parents for entrusting your precious children with our staff here at McIntosh Middle School! It has been a wonderful journey, and we wish you and your children the best in high school and beyond!
