Mrs. Michelle Miller, Principal

Hello Gulf Gate Families and welcome to this week’s edition of Miller’s Minute.  As we enter our week of Thanksgiving, let me say how grateful we are to share in the responsibility of helping your child learn and grow each day.  Thank you for trusting us to be a part of that important role.

A few reminders as we finish this week and move into December:

·         We are excited to welcome you to our Donuts with Grown-ups this week to enjoy a sweet treat with your student from 8:00am-8:30am in the media center on the following days:

o   Pre-K and AIM Students:  Tuesday, 11/19

o   Kindergarten, First, and Second Grades:  Wednesday, 11/20

o   Third, Fourth, and Fifth Grades:  Thursday, 11/21

·         We are excited to welcome Mr. Charlie Murphy, Executive Vice President of Bank of Tampa, to campus on Thursday for a new district-wide program called Day of Impact.  The goal is for our community CEOs to better understand what is happening in our schools and for us to network and develop community connections.  We are excited to build our relationship with Mr. Murphy and The Bank of Tampa.

·         We are expected to have possible storms on Wednesday (we will take that over a hurricane any day).  Please make yourself aware of our stormy weather dismissal process (on our website).  Also, be aware that in the case of confirmed lightning in our area you will need to pick up your child if they walk or ride bikes to school.  We will put out a message in that case, but you may want to plan accordingly considering the forecast.  We only do that in the case of lightning identified within 8 miles, not for rain.  Fingers crossed that it will miss us!

·         Thanksgiving Break November 25th through 29th. Classes resume Monday, December 2nd  .  Enjoy spending time with your friends and families.

·         We have a few things we want you to be aware of as we enter December:

o    We are excited to invite you to our Kindergarten Concert on December 12 and our 5th Grade Concert on December 19! Both events promise to be full of joy and holiday cheer.  Kindergarteners, dress in your holiday best! 5th graders, we encourage you to wear your festive (or ugly!) holiday sweaters to get into the spirit. Please note: no hats or headbands for performers.  We can’t wait to celebrate the season with you!

o   For those planning their holiday trips, Winter break is from December 23rd -January 3rd.

Once again, enjoy your break and know we are thankful for you and your children!!
