Sarasota County Schools has partnered with Florida Prepaid again to offer one high school senior and fifth-grade student the chance to win a 2-Year College Plan Scholarship (valued at $8,000 each)!
High School Senior Eligibility:
Current 12th-grade student (Cohort 2024-25) enrolled in a traditional public school in Sarasota County planning to attend post-secondary education
Minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA
Completed essay: "Why I Want to Attend College?” (Not to exceed 500 words)
Level 3 or higher in the most recent Language Arts and Math testing
Must have less than 5 unexcused absences
No discipline referrals for the 2024-25 school year
Florida residency & valid Social Security number required
Fifth Grade Student Eligibility:
Current 5th-grade student enrolled in a traditional public school in Sarasota County
Completed essay: “Why College Matters to Me” (Not to exceed 250 words)
Must have less than 5 unexcused absences
No discipline referrals for the 2024-25 school year
Florida residency & valid Social Security number required
How to Apply: SCS Career Advisors and Counselors will assist with distributing information and collecting applications. Each school will select its top 3 applications to send to the district for final selection. The winners will be announced in April 2025.
