Setting Students on the Path of Success Today and in their Future

Dear Woodland Middle School Parent/Guardian,

We are excited to share that students will be engaging in activities to learn about career and education pathways. Research has identified middle school as a time when students can benefit the most from career exploration. This includes building self-awareness, learning about goal setting and developing a strategy for realizing educational and career goals.

Career exploration capitalizes on a student’s abilities to think abstractly, preferences for teamwork and active learning through relevant real-life scenarios. These preferences are what make middle school an ideal time for students to learn about careers and develop skills (problem solving, critical thinking and teamwork).

Our College and Career Team includes an Assistant Principal, School Counselors and Career Advisor. Teachers will be working with your student weekly. Students will access interest inventories, surveys, and curriculum resources through http://my.sarasotacountyschools.net using their log-in and password.

We look forward to working with your students to develop their awareness of their potential path to success!
