About Us
Family/Community Involvement
TRS Boosters (our parent organization) are an indispensable source of support for the school. Financially, they provide support for classroom equipment and supplies, computers, field trips, school assemblies, and more through fundraisers. The TRS Boosters plan many annual events to foster a positive school community!

K-Kids
K-Kids is a community service club that is available to 4th and 5th graders. Club members are involved in yearly service projects, such as Beach Clean Ups, caroling at local nursing homes, raising money to sponsor Southeastern Guide Dog Puppies, and anything else our club members can dream up to help our local community! Please contact Email Julie Scarryfor more information. Flyers are sent home early in the school year to sign up!

Accelerated Reader (AR)
The computerized program, AR, has also helped to significantly improve the reading skills of students. Students receive points for reading books and passing short comprehension tests on each book. Students are recognized for their efforts by receiving AR dogtags at various point levels, beginning at 5 points. Students who earn 100 points (or more!) are honored at an end-of-year AR party, as well as their picture being displayed in the library!
Advanced Work Classes (AWC)
There is an AWC class at 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades. Advanced Work Classes have been established to meet the needs of gifted and high-performing students. An enrichment and accelerated curriculum has been designed to academically challenge these students and provide them with critical thinking opportunities. Entry into the program is based primarily on a student’s performance on a variety of standardized tests.
Library
The library boasts over twenty thousand print and non-print items available for student, parent, and teacher check-out. Every child has the opportunity to visit the library during the week and may borrow books for pleasure or projects.
Student Council
Students from grades 3-5 are elected by their classmates as delegates to the Student Council. The council undertakes a number of school improvement and community service projects each year.
WTRS News Crew
5th grade students apply to be part of the News Crew at TRS. Each morning our day starts with the News after the 8:30 bell rings! Students share important information with our school, report on various happenings around campus, as well as the weather, lunch menu and reminders! We also have Good News Tuesday with Mrs. Spielman, Wildly Positive Wednesday with Mrs. Barber, Thankful Thursday with Mrs. Tuggle, and Fun Fact Friday with Mrs. Webb!
