  The vision of Riverview High School is to create a school community that works together so that all students will reach their highest potential to become life-long learners and responsible citizens through quality instruction and a challenging world-class curriculum at a state-of-the-art facility. 

Riverview High School is a four year comprehensive public high school in Sarasota, Florida, United States. Riverview educates students from ninth grade through twelfth grade. The school has 2,606 students and 127 teachers. The school's mascot is the Ram.  As of the 2015-2016 school year, it is the largest school in the county. It has been recognized as one of the leading schools in Florida and the nation. Based on its challenge index rating (enrollment in Advanced Placement and

International Baccalaureate), Riverview is ranked as one of "America's Best Schools" (Newsweek, June 2015). It was also named 2016 Readers’ Choice Best Local High School in Sarasota.

Riverview is located on 51 acres in Sarasota, Florida. The present population of this Gulf Coast area located south of Tampa is approximately 379,500. Graduates of 2013 number 650: Of those continuing their education 69 % went to 4-year universities, 18 % went to community college and 3% went to technical schools. 2% of the graduating class went into the armed services and 8% joined the workforce.  

Riverview High School was established in 1958 and was an open campus designed by Paul Rudolph in 1958 (468,000 sq. ft.). The new Riverview High School campus (532,000 sq. ft.) is a more traditional design, centered around an expansive interior courtyard, hosting state of the art technology in all 7 Small Learning Community classrooms, 2nd largest auditorium in the city, and all capturing the beauty of the river that brought us our name.

Notable programs at the school include the International Baccalaureate Program, a rigorous regimen that prepares its candidates on an international rubric and prepares them for further education. Riverview debuts a new program the International Baccalaureate Career Program, allows students the rigor of IB classes, with a focus on Engineering or International Business.  The Riverview Arts program includes a Chamber Choir that has performed in Europe and New York's Carnegie Hall and the Riverview High School Kiltie Band, a group of about 220 musicians that has marched three times in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade. The band has been honored with consecutive superior ratings at the Florida Bandmasters Association marching music performance assessment for the past 53 years.  Riverview’s athletic department was the recipient of the 2014 FHSAA Academic Team Champion Awards for the highest grade points for all athletes in district 8A. Boys Basketball is the Regional Champion for 2016 and placed 2ndin the State Competition.  The girls swim team has won 3 straight state titles and 6 of the last 7 state championships. The boys' team achieved district championship for the past three years. One of the most notable alumni is Rams Football coach Todd Johnson who played in the NFL for the Chicago Bears, St. Louis Rams, and the Buffalo Bills. 

As a part of the S.T.E.M. program, Riverview is home to Engineering as well as a diverse Science department. The Engineering department allows students to earn industry certification in Auto Desk Inventor. The Science department is home to the largest state of the art digital stand-alone planetarium and an NRC licensed radiation lab. The science department also maintains a greenhouse as well as an Aqua Dome. The aqua dome is home to 12 freshwater crypts, containing Tilapia and Koi and 36 saltwater aquaria containing Clownfish, Bangai Cardinals, and Fang Blennies. There are 2 chilled 500 to 700-gallon tanks containing several varieties of corals with the major highlight being the Touch Tank. Riverview's Stars to Starfish program which includes tours of the Planetarium as well as the Aqua dome serves more than 7000 elementary and middle schools students annually and hosts "Open to the Public" community events. 

The Executive Internship program provides an opportunity for high school seniors to gain college credit and firsthand knowledge in a professional career with a community based executive sponsor. These classes are affiliated with the National Executive High School Association and offer relevant connections to the classroom instruction. Riverview offers many programs to serve its diverse population including the International Baccalaureate Program, Performance-Based Diploma Program, RHS Teen Parent Program, AP and Dual Enrollment Courses, Foreign Language, Career Technical Education, Performing Arts, Visual Arts, Exceptional Education, ROTC, Stars to Starfish, Executive Internships, and Interscholastic Sports.
