North Port High School is composed of 2300 students and 130 faculty members on a spacious open campus. A high-quality faculty helps each student discover his or her talents through assorted academics and richly diverse extracurricular programs.

The Cambridge Advanced International Certificate of Education (AICE) program offers a rigorous international pre-university curriculum and examination system which emphasizes the value of broad and balanced study for academically advanced students. AICE offers internationally recognized college-level courses tailored to student's individual interests, abilities, strengths, and future plans. Students who take AICE courses build a solid foundation for both college and employment. Cambridge programs encourage students to develop attributes of the Cambridge Learner – confident, responsible, reflective, innovative, and engaged. Cambridge curriculums also foster the development of 21st Century Skills such as critical thinking, creativity and innovation, self-direction, and collaboration and communication. Successful candidates who pass seven AICE exams in specific categories qualify for the highest level of Bright Futures scholarship, which pays 100% of tuition and fees for four years at a public college or university in the state of Florida.

To foster a strong sense of belonging, each freshman class participates in an orientation program prior to entering high school. Students participate in team-building activities with an upper-class mentor to facilitate an understanding of how to become successful students and gain comfort in their new environment. Students are also grouped into advisories that meet once a week and they stay with that group of classmates and teacher/mentors throughout their four years at NPHS. Class spirit is reinforced through advisory and various activities throughout the year, such as powder puff, clash of the classes, class spirit day, homecoming, and prom. Lasting friendships are also forged in extracurricular activities, such as performing arts, ROTC, athletics, and club activities.
