Booker High School is located on the north end of Sarasota County, and the new $58 million campus was opened in the winter of 2013. We also boast a 22 million dollar renovated theatre with two performance spaces, a brand new turf football field and renovated track. Construction has also started on our brand new field house for our football team. The new campus is replete with state-of-the-art classrooms and studios, technology and science labs, and we are in the process . 

In addition to the students districted to the school, BHS has a Visual & Performing Arts Magnet Program that attracts students from around Sarasota, Manatee, and Charlotte counties. The VPA Program provides rigorous pre-professional instruction in dance, digital film and animation, music, theatre, live entertainment production and design, and visual art. The VPA season includes more than a dozen events on our main stage and art studios, and the events and work done through the VPA program have earned the school-wide acclaim. Some notable VPA graduates are American Idol Finalist Syesha Mercado, NBC's Chicago Fire star Charlie Barnett, and Oscar-winning makeup artist Bill Corso. 

Besides education in the arts through the VPA program, Booker High School provides students with rigorous academic classes with the Cambridge University AICE (Advanced International Certificate of Education) program, which offers a comprehensive college-preparatory curriculum and the opportunity to earn college credit in high school through mastery of AICE exams. In addition to the AICE program, students may elect to take Advanced Placement or Dual Enrollment courses on Booker's campus. 

As a comprehensive high school, the programs are designed to meet the needs of this diverse population offering an array of programs that offer students a choice of curriculum. The JROTC program at Booker High School offers training in leadership, accountability, teamwork and logistics. The CTE (Career and Technical Education) program at Booker offers courses in digital design, hospitality and tourism, business and entrepreneurship, and engineering and robotics. Additionally, BHS has a third magnet program, The Law Academy, that is a part of the CTE cluster. The Law Academy offers two tracks: criminal justice and constitutional law. Finally, Booker High School partners with Inner City Hope USA to offer courses in coding and mobile app development. These programs can earn students industry certifications before they even graduate from high school.
