‘Most Improved Students’ to be honored at award events May 18 & 23

SARASOTA COUNTY, May 15, 2017 - High school students who have overcome challenges to make positive changes in their lives will be honored with the Most Improved Student Award during two ceremonies in May. The names of the students will be announced at each event.

The 10th annual Most Improved Student Award event for North Port High School will recognize 10 seniors at 11:30 a.m., Thursday, May 18, at a luncheon at Heron Creek Country Club.

A second awards event will recognize 40 students from Booker, Riverview, Sarasota and Venice high schools at 11 a.m., Tuesday, May 23, at Michael’s On East in Sarasota. Philip A. Delaney Jr., president of Norther Trust; Todd Bowden, superintendent of Sarasota County Schools; and Jennifer Vigne, president of the Education Foundation of Sarasota County, will speak. In its 20th year, the Most Improved Student Awards Luncheon is hosted by the Education Foundation of Sarasota County in partnership with Sarasota County Schools and Northern Trust.

The program is made possible through the generosity of The Hunkle Family Foundation and Northern Trust, with additional financial support from The Harold C. and Jackqueline F. Bladel Foundation, Inc., The Evalyn Sadlier Jones Foundation, the Annette J Hagens Memorial Foundation, and the Eluned and Edward Russell Charitable Foundation.
