PLAY BALL! Winners of the Suncoast Campaign for Grade-Level Reading Attendance Awareness Poster Contest celebrated at a Baltimore Orioles spring training game in March.

SARASOTA, April 7, 2017 – In the 2016-17 school year, 38,000 students from 83 schools in Sarasota and Manatee counties created posters with the theme, “Every Day Counts,” to emphasize the importance of daily school attendance.

In Sarasota County, students whose posters were judged to be among the best received free tickets to a Baltimore Orioles spring training game. Manatee students took in a Pittsburgh Pirates game. The contest was part of the Suncoast Campaign for Grade-Level Reading.
