Oath of Office February 5

SCSPD receives its first recruit directly from the Criminal Justice Academy

SARASOTA COUNTY, February 6, 2019 – The Sarasota County Schools Police Department (SCSPD) welcomed a new School Resource Officer into its ranks yesterday after holding an Oath of Office ceremony in the School Board’s chambers. District personnel, guests from the community and media were all on hand to witness the meaningful occasion. After the ceremony, attendees enjoyed a brief meet and greet with the new officer.

“Whether we are swearing in one officer or a dozen, the commitment is the same,” said Todd Bowden, superintendent of Sarasota County Schools. “I want to thank Officer Giannini for her willingness to serve our school communities. It was evident during her application process that she clearly understood the mission of our school-based police department. We are thrilled that she is starting her law enforcement career with us, and look forward to welcoming additional academy recruits as the Sarasota County Schools Police Department continues to grow.”

“Officer Giannini is an excellent addition to our law enforcement family at the school district,” commented Sarasota County School District Chief of Police Tim Enos. “She was so driven to protect our children and the community, she put herself through the Criminal Justice Academy at Suncoast Technical College. She is our first academy recruit and we hope she inspires other talented officers to follow in her footsteps. We are starting off 2019 strong and look forward to seeing Officer Giannini, and our other officers, positively impact our school communities.”

    • Officer Giannini was born in Johannesburg, South Africa. When her family moved to Sarasota she attended Cardinal Mooney High School and Manatee Community College, where she graduated with an Associate’s Degree. Officer Giannini served as a flight attendant for Continental Airlines before leaving to start a family.
