Linda Daniels, principal at Cranberry Elementary, announces retirement

SARASOTA COUNTY, August 21, 2018 – Linda Daniels, principal at Cranberry Elementary in North Port has announced her retirement effective December 31, 2018. A 34-year veteran of Sarasota County Schools, Mrs. Daniels is the first principal at Cranberry Elementary and has served in this capacity for the last 16 years when the school initially opened. Prior to that, she was an assistant principal at Toledo Blade Elementary and served as a teacher at Alta Vista and Glenallen elementary schools. The 2017 Principal of the Year, Mrs. Daniels has been instrumental in building a stellar reputation at Cranberry, including maintaining an A-grade from the Florida Department of Education for 13 years. Sarasota County Schools will implement a principal site analysis and focus group on September 25 to identify the qualities needed for Cranberry’s next principal.

“There is no one like Linda Daniels,” noted Todd Bowden, superintendent of Sarasota County Schools. “She is an amazing administrator and has worked hard to establish Cranberry Elementary as a high-performing school for more than a decade. Her passion and commitment to the North Port community is unparalleled, and we will greatly miss her enthusiasm and leadership.”

“I feel incredibly blessed to have worked for Sarasota County Schools for 34 years,” commented Linda Daniels, principal at Cranberry Elementary. “My experiences as a teacher and school leader have been incredibly rewarding. For now, I want parents to know that I leave their children in good hands – the teachers, staff and administrators at Cranberry are the best of the best and they will continue to inspire our children in amazing ways.”

“Principal Daniels has led and served the students, staff and families of the Sarasota County School District in the finest manner possible,” remarked Christopher Renouf, executive director of Elementary Schools. “Her legacy, commitment to excellence and unwavering belief in every child’s ability to succeed will always be remembered. The indelible impact that Linda Daniels has had on each of us is a gift for which we are all grateful.”

Sarasota County Schools will hold a public forum and focus group on September 25 at Cranberry Elementary for parents and staff to assist with identifying the qualities needed for Cranberry’s next principal. The school district will use the information shared to shape the job description of the position and for hiring purposes. Parents are encouraged to visit the Cranberry Elementary website between now and September 25 for details on how to participate in the study, including feedback in advance of the meeting.
