Superintendent Todd Bowden, at the request of the Sarasota County School Board Chair, Bridget Ziegler, contacted the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office today and asked for an investigation into the misconduct of Lincoln Memorial Academy Principal Eddie Hundley, who provided a positive recommendation for Quentin Peterson, a teacher under investigation for inappropriate behavior with students. After an investigation by the Palmetto Police Department, Mr. Peterson was arrested on possession of child pornography earlier this spring. The Sheriff’s Office has assigned a detective to the case.

This is a follow-up action from April 30 when the school district filed an educator misconduct report to the Florida Department of Education (FDOE), noting Mr. Hundley’s failure to disclose an open investigation into the misconduct of Mr. Peterson, and providing a positive recommendation during an open investigation. The FLDOE continues to look into this matter.
