The SPHS Booster group is official. The approved bylaws are posted on our web site and we are preparing to elect Booster officers on August 12th. Please review the candidates bios on our website (Link Class of 2012), and vote by proxy if you cannot attend the next Booster meeting on Tuesday, August 12th from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. in our new high school!

Welcome

As the Principal of Suncoast Polytechnical High School, I am very excited about the opening of this new high school and the opportunities it will provide for the children of Sarasota County. Our students select to attend SPHS instead of the “traditional” high school model because they are drawn by the unique learning environment we will offer. These teenagers are focused on a pathway to their future.

Suncoast Polytechnical High School is designed to house a total of 600 students in grades 9-12. Beginning with the Class of 2012, we will phase in our program with 150 students per year. Our academic program is a college preparatory, rigorous academic and career-focused curriculum with an emphasis on business knowledge and 21st Century Workplace Skills. Located on the same campus as the Sarasota County Technical Institute (SCTI), our students will have many opportunities for collaboration with experienced industry and business professionals as well as hands-on instructional experiences at their facilities. In addition to the Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs offered at SCTI, students at Suncoast Polytechnical High School will also be able to select to take CTE programs in Biomedical Sciences, Computer Programming with emphasis on Gaming/Simulation/Animation and Geospatial/Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
