Mrs. Natasha Forbus, Principal
Welcome to Lamarque Elementary School, Home of the Lions!
We are excited to welcome you to Lamarque. Take a look around our website or schedule a campus visit and you will discover that we are a student-focused and family-oriented school working together for the success of all!
Because children are at the heart of all we do, our talented staff is dedicated to providing a challenging curriculum that meets individual needs, supports student success and promotes academic excellence. We place a strong emphasis on quality instruction; we value the richness of diversity, and we hold high academic and behavioral expectations for students and ourselves. We believe in active learning and stretching students’ imaginations through hands-on exploration and inquiry-based learning.
At Lamarque, we continually strive to be Respectful, Organized, Accepting, Responsible, and Safe (R.O.A.R.S.) These expectations we have for our students and ourselves are at the core of our community. As a PBIS Model School, we model, teach and celebrate positive behaviors that support the learning environment and promote a positive climate. Students can earn a quarterly ROARS award, shop at the ROAR Store, and earn fun socials when they are ROAR-ing at Lamarque!
Since we are a Title I school, we are fortunate to be able to provide individualized classroom support and offer a wide variety of family learning events. We have Instructional and Behavioral Support Teams designated for small groups and individualized learning. We want to ensure all students get what they need each day. To improve the home-school connection, we train our students and teachers to engage their parents in the learning process. The s.t.e.p. approach focuses on goal setting, at-home practice, and frequent communication about learning gains, so parents and families are informed.
As a Cambridge International school, we can better accelerate learning for students already meeting grade level expectations in some or all of the content areas. By offering these challenges and enrichment activities, our students are better prepared for the careers of tomorrow. All students are taught the importance of the Cambridge learner attributes that put them on track for middle and high school AICE courses.
Cambridge Learner Attributes
Confident in working with information and ideas – their own and those of others
Responsible for themselves, responsive to and respectful of others
Reflective as learners, developing their ability to learn
Innovative and equipped for new and future challenges
Engaged intellectually and socially, ready to make a difference
Our students are able to participate in the student council, safety patrols, the morning news crew, and the Special Olympics. We have an amazing chorus and theatre program which performs for students and families each year.
We are always in need of volunteer help, and we gladly welcome the support of our family and community members. Be a part of the PRIDE of North Port and get involved.
