I. Welcome
Peter Straw called the meeting to order at 5:35 p.m. He welcomed the group.
A motion by Javier Brito, seconded by Scott Moore, approved the minutes.
II. Director’s Report
· Enrollment Summary: The snapshot of enrollment was reviewed. George McGonagill requested a rolling summary be continued every month.
· Budget: The budget will be available on April 24 and the special meeting date will be set. There was no discussion or comments on the elements of the budget at this time.
IIl. Dialog with
the Director of CTE
· The group met with Mellissa Morrow, Director of CTE, for the first time.
· Transportation of students is an issue for SCTI.
· The group discussed scheduling and class length.
· The focus is “college readiness” for all students, not college for all students. The selling points for technical education were discussed. Mellissa Morrow indicated that the district is moving to technical education for all students.
· The group discussed the impact of FCAT on enrollment and future plans.
· Rigor and relevance and small learning communities were discussed.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:40
pm by a motion by Jerry Greenstein, seconded by George McGonagill. It passed unanimously.

quality technical education to meet workforce development and community
needs.
