I. Welcome
Peter Straw called the meeting to order at
The minutes were approved with a motion by George McGonagill and seconded by Mickey Anderson.
II. Director’s Report
· Enrollment Summary: October and November reports were distributed.
III. Old Business

The Director Of Career and Technical Education
for the district position has been posted and closed. Interviews are scheduled for December 1. There are six candidates to interview.

Special Focus Programs: There will be a report regarding the
curriculum work and advertising that has been done for these programs and their
results. The three programs on special focus this year are Culinary Arts,
Surgical Tech, and Network Support.
IV. New
Business
· New Program Offering: The proposed Pharmacy Tech program was outlined by Harlean Satin and Linda Hart.
o 40 hours of articulated credit with the community college
o Program length: 1050 hours
o 3 OCP levels: Core 90 hours, Community Pharmacy 360 hours, and Hospital Level 600 hours
o Equipment: much to be donated. Davidson Drugs will do lab on their site after hours.
o Advisory committee was formed in July 2005
o Current faculty member will teach
o Adjunct faculty at no cost to SCTI
o Will require some capital improvements
o Additional computers and software are needed
o Starting salaries: $8 - $9 at 360 hours, $10 - $12 after one year of experience
o Afternoon and evening program
o Students can qualify for financial aid
o Community need was indicated by surveys of employers
o Complies with the vision statement of SCTI
o Expect to have 8-10 students to start in January 2006
The SAC discussed the proposal and asked questions of the presenters. A motion to accept the proposal was made by Jerry and seconded by Harriette. Approved by voice vote.
V.
SDMT Report
The SDMT heard the proposal to add the Pharmacy Tech program and approved it for referral to the SAC. Budget proposals for percentage distribution of monies received were considered and will be discussed at the next meeting. A mailing of 15,000 pieces was made to high school families in anticipation of the Open House to be held on November 29.
IV. Other
Bill Costello informed the group that the high school Firefighter program may be able to start in August 2006.
Peter informed the group of the SAMA Scholarship Golf Tournament to be held November 19. Their scholarship goal is to support nontraditional educational programs.
