SAC/SDMT
MEETING
January
6, 2004
M I N U TES
Meeting
called to order at 3:10 p.m.
Those in
attendance: Melissa Barnes, Marta Calabrese, Lorna Combs, Candace Dearing,
Susan Fairey, Kris Martin, Lynn Nilssen, Jane O’Malley, Sheri Paulsen, Ann
Putnam, Dotti Rosenfield, and Ruth Wright.
Item 1:
School
Uniforms
Mrs. Dearing
informed the Committee that there is going to be a “real crack down” on the
inappropriate clothing that is being worn by students. Girls are wearing short
shorts and tank tops and boys are wearing pants that are too big and showing
their underwear. Flip flops and high or inappropriate shoes are also a safety
concern. This needs to stop. Should we address the issue of school uniforms?
The question was brought up again. Different options were discussed such as
optional uniforms, or only shirts versus a whole uniform change. Dotti
Rosenfield and Mrs. Dearing will tweak the survey letter that was sent out last
year to get the opinions of parents on the issue. Surveys will be sent home in
report card envelopes.
Item 2:
SIP
Presentation for School Board
The
committee also discussed how the School Improvement Plan data and goals should
be presented to the School Board on February 4, 2004. The presentation will be
in the media center at 3:15 in the afternoon. It was decided that Mrs. Dearing,
Dotti Rosenfield and Sheri Paulsen would draft a script that would provide an
outline for the program. SAC will then schedule an extra meeting to go over the
draft and assign “parts”. Administration, teachers, parents and students should
all be a part of the presentation.
Item 3:
The
percentage of SIP money that will be spent on Professional Development will be
29%. ($5800)
Other:
Population
projections for the next school year indicate that we will have approximately
468 students enrolled at Phillippi next year.
Next Agenda:
Extra Meeting to plan for SIP
presentation.
The meeting
was adjourned at 4:20 p.m.
