week’s approval of spending $2,727,641 to retain all current staff, out of the total budget for next year of
$2,891,320. In last week’s committee meeting members were charged with going back to their respective grade
levels and reporting committee ideas for new staff/service additions in the 2003-2004 school year.
Additionally, teams were encouraged to submit other ideas for these staff expenditures. After much discussion,
the committee came to consensus on the following positions/services to be added next year. One
Remediation/ESOL support teacher whose primary responsibilities will include screening and diagnostic
support, as well as, AIP intervention support; science contracted services (see addendum); extra duty
days/hours for the registrar and a 4 hour A-1 lunchroom aide will be added.
The breakdown of dollars spent is as follows:
$163,679
- 57,890 (1 teacher unit to be held in reserve)
$105,789
- 1,504 (extra hours/duty days for registrar)
$104,285
-3,000 (contract science services * see addendum)
$101,285
-57,890 (remedial/ESOL position)
$43,495
-10,227 (A-1 lunchroom aide)
$33,128
The staff money left over at this time is to be held in reserve until after the 10 day count in the fall in case dollars must be returned due to low enrollment. Possibilities for expenditure after the 10 day count will be discussed by the SAC/SDMT committee in the fall of 2003.
Further discussion was brought before committee members with regards to the Behavior Specialist position. Questions were raised about the job description and responsibilities of this position. Dr. Cooley and Jennifer McMahon have agreed to share concerns that were discussed with Mr. Peetz and other office employees involved
Respectfully submitted,
Pam Singer
