SDMT/SAC MEETING

April 1, 2003

 

M I N U T E S

 

The meeting was called to order at 3:15 for the purpose of addressing the 2003-2004 Executive Budget.

 

Committee members in attendance included:

Dottie Rosenfield, Judy Aquila, Dick Christian, Kristen  Martin, Sharon Lantheaume, Pam Singer, Ginny Becker, Sherry Paulsen, Ann Fisher and Carlotta Cooley.

 

Item 1- The instructional budget allocation for the 2003-2004 School Year is $ 2,891,320. All current staff members will be retained for the total amount of $ 2,727,641, leaving $163,679 in instructional budget dollars to spend. Dr. Cooley presented the county’s recommendations for use of these personnel monies. These suggestions included: remediation support, science support, ESOL support and extra duty days/overtime for the registrar. A variety of ideas were proposed for consideration. The possibilities listed below are to be presented to grade level teams for input:

-         contracted services for science support to help with initial setup of the lab, on-going help through-out the year for the changing of  missions and organization of all materials and supplies.

-         extra duty days/overtime for the registrar at certain times during the school year.

-         combination ESOL/remediation secretary (S-1).

-         combination ESOL/remediation  part time or full time teacher.

-         combination science/ESOL aide ( A-2 ).

-         contracted services for ESOL.

-         4th wheel staff member for media, either an A-3 aide, or a media specialist or dance or foreign language.

 

Committee members were charged to return to their respective teams and discuss the above ideas with them for additional input before the next meeting on Tues. of next week.
