School Advisory Council Meeting Minutes

Tuesday, October 9, 2007

3:45 p.m. – 4:45 p.m.

Members Present: Sally Mancheno (Principal), Don Knoepfle, Carla Johnson, Tish Temple, Kirk Hutchinson, Connie Lightfoot, Yasmin Rodriguez, Michael O’Brien, Elaine Stewart, Kim Deeb, Mary Kirsten, Karynne Muncy, Nina Schwartz, Bruce Spicer, Lori Ackling, Anniese Curley, Nina Tufenkjian, Jenness DeBruler.

Non-Members Present: D’Arcy Denis

Tish Temple called the meeting to order at 3:50 p.m.

Review Minutes from last SAC meeting, September 25, 2007.

Yasmin Rodriquez moved to approve minutes, Michael O’Brien seconded, SAC approved.

New Business:

· Kim Deeb attended 5 star school training and SAC training.

· SAC members were given written explanation of school recognition funds to review.

· Tish Temple explained further “what” the funds could be used for.

· Mrs. Mancheno clarified to SAC members that SDMT will come up with a suggestion as to how the funds should be used and SAC will also provide a recommendation. The two committees will then meet to try to reach a consensus as to how the funds are used.

· Suggestions for percentage allocations were given. A tiered system of distribution to staff members was mentioned. Recommendations for student recognition, purchase of internet site license, and an allocation of funds to current teachers for classroom supplies were discussed.

· After discussing several options, a consensus was reached to recommend a 75/20/5 % split of the funds. 75% of the funds would be used for staff bonuses. 20% of the funds to be used for “materials, supplies”, and 5% of the funds for student recognition.

Michael O’Brien moved to adjourn meeting at 4:55, Yasmin Rodriguez seconded. Next scheduled meeting with SDMT will be announced.
