School Advisory Council Meeting Minutes
Tuesday, February 13, 2007
3:45 p.m. – 4:45 p.m.
Members Present: Sally Mancheno (Principal), Don
Knoepfle, Carla Johnson, Carolyn Lax, Tish Yarish, Nina Schwartz, Anniese
Curley, Jenness DeBruler, Connie Lightfoot, Patricia Robison, Scott Bussell,
Lori Ackling, Kristin Cawthorne, Yasmin Rodriguez, D’Arcy Denis.
Non-Members Present:
Michael Griffith
Tish Yarish called the meeting to order at 3:50 p.m.
Review of
Minutes from previous SAC meeting on January 9, 2007.
No corrections or additions.
New Business:
Tish Yarish informed SAC members that the 2007-2008
budget will be tentatively available April 2, 2007.
Tish Yarish shared with SAC members the new KingCAT
Program, which is designed to provide at-risk students with additional computer
instruction on reading and math skills.
Scott Bussell discussed his recent participation in
the Florida Educational Technology Conference.
A “Synchronize” computer program will be available. This program will allow teachers to control
all student computers from the teacher station.
D’Arcy Denis, who also participated in the conference,
expressed that Lamarque may want to send a team to the conference next year as
presenters.
Patricia Robison explained that 5th grade
was concentrating on preparing students mentally for FCAT by relaxation
strategies and practice tests.
Connie Lightfoot added that 3rd grade is
also preparing for the FCAT with confidence building skills.
Carolyn Lax shared that 2nd grade began
studying presidents and money.
Don Knoepfle discussed his plans to attend the
National School Supply Annual meeting in Atlanta,
GA.
Anniese Curley shared the results of the PALS
brunch. The volunteers seemed to respond
very positively to the brunch.
Jenness DeBruler gave details of the end of the year
Ho-down & Silent Auction which will occur on April 21.
PTO is looking at the schedule for next year to
pre-plan events. Field Day was a success
and the Pride-A-Thon planning is well underway.
The Scholarship program and Uniform Exchange is being fine tuned.
1st grade explained the reading skill
rotations between teachers to address all students’ needs based on different
skill areas.
Mrs. Mancheno reiterated that our standards are high
at Lamarque for both students and staff.
Our population is still rising.
The 2007-2008 budget will be coming soon for SAC to address.
Lamarque committees are working on parent involvement
and needs for next year. The minutes for
each committee are posted on the Lamarque website.

occur on Tuesday, March 13, 2007.
