School Advisory Council Meeting Minutes
Tuesday, January 09, 2007
3:45 p.m. – 4:45 p.m.
 
Members Present: Sally Mancheno (Principal), Don Knoepfle, Carla Johnson, Carolyn Lax, Michael O’Brien, Tish Yarish, Nina Schwartz, Michael Griffith, Anniese Curley, Jenness DeBruler, Connie Lightfoot, Patricia Robison, Scott Bussell, Lori Ackling.
 
Non-Members Present:  none
 
 
Tish Yarish called the meeting to order at 3:45 p.m.
 
 
Review of Minutes from previous SAC meeting November 14, 2006.
 
Don Knoepfle moved to approve the minutes from the November 14, 2006 meeting and Carolyn Lax seconded; SAC committee approved minutes.
 
 
 
New Business:
.
Tish Yarish informed the SAC committee that former member Desiree Miller will be replaced by new SAC member Lori Ackling from Busey Bank.
 
Mrs. Mancheno updated SAC on technology and staff development progress.
 
Staff and PTO shared events happening at and around the school.
-       Many grade levels indicated that preparations for the FCAT and SAT 10 were well underway.
-       Fourth grade is preparing for the FCAT parent’s night.
-       First, second, third, and fifth grade are reviewing performance tests to isolate individual student needs and form their instruction and test preparations around those needs.  Successmaker and SRI scores are being utilized to determine student needs.
-       PTO shared their plans for the volunteer appreciation breakfast, Field Day, and the end of the year Hoedown and Silent Auction.
 
Nina Schwartz discussed the use of progress monitoring tools that the teachers are using to help drive their instruction and meet all student needs.  Ms. Schwartz also explained the Chris Lewis Writing Training for the specials teachers helps expose the students to the Lewis Writing throughout the entire school in every subject area.
 
Mrs. Mancheno gave an explanation of the Teleparent system for the ESOL families.
