Myndel Miller opened the meeting by welcoming a guest, Becky Ferreira, Gocio ESE teacher, who was attending as an observer.  SAC members read over the minutes of the last meeting and accepted them.  Steve Dragon informed the group that the Gocio Professional Development Plan has not been officially approved, but that we have been told to move forward at this time.  He also said that he has contacted the County Transportation Department regarding the flashing light issue brought up September 27, and that he is awaiting a response from them.

Steve Dragon explained the Proposed School Improvement Plan (SIP) Budget for 2006-2007.  Gocio received approximately $10.00 per student from the state lottery, totaling $9,342.00 for 2006-2007.  There was also $3,824.72 carried over from last year, so the total amount for this year is $13,166.72.  Items to be funded include the Florida Studio Theatre Programs, materials for McREL Trainings, materials for “Double Dip” in grades 1 – 3, and purchase of Student Agenda Books for 2007-2008.  SAC members discussed and approved this budget.

Rob Kanotz asked if the new monetary figures for Riverview High School would have any effect on the Gocio renovation project.  Steve Dragon assured the SAC that the plan for Gocio was in process, and that the School Board had approved the architect’s plans and will now hire a construction manager.

Bill Sarazen outlined the district plan to supply active boards to all classrooms by December 2007.  At Gocio, the plan involves three phases and the first 24 active boards should be installed between January and May of 2007.  Buildings 1 and 2 should have active boards by December of 2007, after the renovation of these buildings is completed.

The next meeting is set for Tuesday, November 14, 2006 at 3:30 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,
