The Sarasota County School District
includes comprehensive high schools with a variety of academic programs,
competitive sports and extracurricular activities.
Booker, Sarasota and North Port high schools offer
the Advanced International Certificate of Education (AICE), created by the
University of Cambridge in England. Sarasota High also offers the MaST Research
Institute, which focuses on math, science and technology. Booker High is home
to a Visual and Performing Arts program and a Law Academy.
Riverview and Venice high schools
offer the International Baccalaureate program. Like AICE, IB is recognized
throughout the world as a rigorous preparation for post-secondary education.
Polytechnical High School is a technology magnet high school whose students
come from throughout the county. The school’s
college-preparatory curriculum is integrated within an economics and business
core. SPHS students study subjects as diverse as architectural drafting,
practical nursing, and commercial foods and culinary art. Many programs are
offered in cooperation with the adjacent Suncoast Technical College. Local businesses provide on-the-job experiences
for teachers and students, such as job shadowing and internships.
Pine View School, which serves
intellectually gifted students in grades two-12, is consistently ranked one of
the best high schools in Florida and throughout the U.S. Eligible students
thrive in the school’s academically challenging environment.

emphasize service to the community to help develop of well-rounded, responsible
and productive citizens.
