SCS Text Messaging FAQs
The Sarasota County Schools subscribe to a service called Connect-ED through which the district and individual schools can send telephone messages to families about school events and activities, student attendance and information about unusual situations such as lockdowns or power failures.
Recently the district has expanded the service to include email and text messages. Emails of phone messages are sent to every household that provides their school an email address.
Text messages also will be sent to phones that are identified in the school data base as a text-enabled number. When that service started, a message was sent to all text-enabled phones to ask permission to continue to send messages or for the recipient to have the opportunity to stop receiving text messages from the school district.
The email and text services are useful because of their convenience and because messages may be prioritized to allow families to receive news from schools as an email or text rather than receiving a phone call.
The answers below address the most common questions families ask about the texting service. If you have a question that is not addressed here, please call the district Communications Department at 941-927-4009 or email Debbie.email@example.com
