Welcome to Community Relations
School districts need strong community support to deliver quality education. That support hinges on community members being informed about and engaged in the activities of schools and students on a continuous basis.
The Communications and Community Relations Department helps facilitate community engagement by providing information about the Sarasota County School District, the School Board of Sarasota County and individual schools directly to the community, creating opportunities for community members to advise the district on its effectiveness.
The Communications Department staff works with community
organizations, the business community and government agencies to strengthen
communications and understanding of their respective contributions to the quality
of life in the community. The department organizes periodic Telephone Town Hall
Meetings in which School Board members, the superintendent and other senior
district staff members respond to questions directly from parents and other
constituents about district issues and concerns about their students.
The Communications and Community Relations Department also supports the superintendent’s community relations efforts through a variety of advisory committees including the following:
Community Advisory Council
- Elementary Teacher of the Year Roundtable
- Secondary Teacher of the Year Roundtable
- Superintendent’s Student Council
General comments and inquiries from community members may be sent to the district via the Contact us link.
